Eternal Faith
Despite the seemingly tumultuous times we live in, there is never a
day that I’m not grateful to be alive and participating in the game
of life. I use the word participating because I believe each entity
on the planet has a role to play in its evolution. However,
identifying what the role is often challenges my belief, because
inevitably something happens on the planet that defies my logical
understanding. On the other hand, wanting to understand encourages
me to study, to learn, to research and to become comfortable with
the mystery of life and the mystery of creation. Paradoxically, the
desire to understand also encourages me to become comfortable with a
power that transcends my need to know the answers. This power is
faith.
Faith is a huge concept. Faith is the seed of infinite creativity
and finite creativity. Faith is the foundation upon which all other
concepts are built, whether they are empirical or theoretical,
spiritual or corporeal. Faith has moved civilization forward since
its known beginning and faith will carry it forward, but faith is
like participation it can be either active or passive. Every
creation story tells about an active God, a Spirit that creates,
moves, evaluates, designates, etc… Being created in and after the
image of God suggests humanity can do no less.
Humanity has to move (be active), create, designate. Is your faith
active or passive? At what level are you participating in life?
What vision do you hold for the planet, your community, your family,
your business, yourself? The answer to any or all the questions can
be a tool for measuring successful living plus a barometer for
measuring happiness.
There are no easy avenues to successful living and history has
proven there are some practices that hinder the process and other
practices that benefit the process. Each life is different so
practices vary according to individualized conditions and
circumstances, but there are some practices that are universally
applicable. For instance the practice of negative thinking,
negative behavior, negative habits and negative self imagery are
universally destructive while the practices of positive thinking,
positive behaviors, positive habits and positive self imagery are
highly constructive. Over time constructive practices become
imbedded in the human psyche and the world becomes a better place.
This is our heritage and there is no reason to believe it will not
continue to be our heritage.
Sometime around 500 B.C. the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus
coined the phrase “expect the unexpected, or you won’t find it.”
The phrase was true then. It is true now and it will be true in the
future.
God bless you in your search.
