Zoom – Temperatures & Triangles: Connecting to Yourself to Better Connect with Others, Tues., April 20, 7 pm-8:30 pm CST

Presenter: Mark Bird, PhD, LMFT

One of the key factors in learning to connect and work through relationship issues is the skill of taking your own temperature and knowing how to take care of yourself when the temperature is too high. The skills of timing-out, soothing, understanding your own feelings, and knowing how to manage those feelings and share them in a non-blaming way are critical to forming healthy connection. Using several different triangle metaphors, Mark reviews both the tools to manage your temperature and the tools to connect.

Dr. Mark Bird is the author of the book, “In Tandem: Recovering Me, Recovering Us”, and the soon-to-be published book, “Building a Castle from Chaos”. He has worked with addictions for almost 20 years and currently is in private practice at Healing & Recovery, working with a great group of clinicians to help heal individuals and relationships. Mark is a father to 6 kids, and he's just beginning to re-learn what it means to have free time now that the kids are getting a little older.
